Is EI waiting period waived?
The payments can delay the start and value of benefits. However, there will once again be a one-week wait before benefits flow for any new EI claims after the waiting period was waived over the last year.
What’s the best time to call unemployment?
Avoid calling on Mondays and Tuesdays. These are the highest call volume days and you’re more likely to get through Wednesday or Thursday. Try calling after 4 p.m.
Can you be denied EI?
Yes. In some situations, EI staff can decide not to give you benefits for other reasons. This is called being “disentitled” to benefits.
How many weeks can you get EI in Canada?

You can receive EI from 14 weeks up to a maximum of 45 weeks, depending on the unemployment rate in your region at the time of filing your claim and the amount of insurable hours you’ve accumulated in the last 52 weeks or since your last claim, whichever is shorter.
Is My Service Canada Account the same as CRA account?
Is “CRA My Account” the same as “My Service Canada Account”? These are different services from each of two Federal government agencies. CRA provides tax information. Service Canada deals with EI CPP OAS and other services.
