Guelph celebrates Go Skateboarding Day June 21

After a long and interesting journey of ups and downs (no pun intended), The City of Guelph finally has a permanent skate park.

Silvercreek skatepark opened on June 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a June 21 event marks the official grand opening.

Members of the public including skateboarders are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Silvercreek Skatepark, located at 142 Edinburgh Road South during international Go Skateboarding Day, Tuesday, June 21st from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m.

There will be music, a free community barbecue, product giveaways, and displays from skateboard industry partners. The Guelph Water Wagon will also be onsite for people needing to refill their reusable water bottles with Guelph tap water. Mayor Cam Guthrie will deliver remarks between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m.

This free event is organized by Energize Guelph and sponsored by the City of Guelph, Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, Wyndham House, Funhouse, Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium, Vans “Off the Wall.”
